Fresh peaches, black tea, and just a little sugar. This homemade peach iced tea is simple to make and perfect for a warm summer afternoon. Simmer fresh peaches into a light syrup, brew your favourite black tea, then pour everything over ice. Serve it with or without the peach pieces—both versions are delicious.
Makes: 2 glasses
Add the sliced peach, water, and sugar to a small saucepan.
Heat gently until the sugar dissolves and the peach becomes soft and fragrant. Stir occasionally. There is no need to boil the mixture vigorously.
While the peaches are simmering, place two black tea bags into a heatproof jug or cup.
Pour over the hot water and let the tea brew until it reaches your preferred strength.
Pour the warm peach syrup into the brewed black tea.
Taste the mixture while it is still warm. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a little more sugar or honey before cooling.
If you would like a smoother drink, strain the peach through a small sieve and gently press it with the back of a spoon to extract more juice.
Fill two glasses with ice cubes.
Pour in the peach tea and add a few peach slices if you enjoy eating the fruit afterwards.
Fresh mint is completely optional. I prefer adding a few whole leaves rather than finely chopping them, so the mint flavour stays light and refreshing.

Today I made a glass of homemade peach iced tea.
As usual, I kept some of the soft peach pieces in the glass. I enjoy drinking the tea and eating the fruit together. When the tea is finished, the peach at the bottom feels like a little dessert.
You can strain the fruit out if you prefer a smoother drink, but I like leaving some of it in the glass. For me, that's one of the nicest parts of making peach iced tea at home.
