Make Halloween breakfast a little more fun with these homemade pumpkin-face pancakes! Using a little cocoa batter to draw funny faces, these playful pancakes are easy to make and perfect for cooking with kids. Finish with a dusting of icing sugar or a drizzle of honey for a sweet family treat.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and baking powder. Add the egg, milk and melted butter, then mix until smooth. Transfer a few tablespoons of batter into a separate bowl, add the cocoa powder and a little extra milk, and stir to create the chocolate batter.

Heat a lightly greased non-stick frying pan over low to medium-low heat. Using a small spoon or piping bag, draw two triangle eyes, a nose and a big smile with the cocoa batter. Let the design cook briefly until it begins to set.

Carefully pour the plain batter around and over the cocoa face, shaping it into a pumpkin. Make sure the chocolate design is completely covered. Cook gently until small bubbles appear on the surface and the edges begin to set.

Gently flip the pancake and cook the other side until golden. Transfer to a plate with the pumpkin face facing up. Finish with a dusting of icing sugar or a drizzle of honey, and enjoy your homemade Halloween pancakes!
