This easy roast duck is a simple family-style oven recipe. The duck takes longer to cook than chicken, but the method is very easy: season it, place it in the oven, and let it roast until the skin is golden and the meat is tender.
• 1 whole duck
• Salt
• Black pepper
• Garlic powder, optional
• Fresh rosemary or thyme, optional• A little olive oil, optional
• Potatoes, carrots, or onions, optional, for roasting together

Take the duck out of the packaging and pat it dry with kitchen paper. Place it in a roasting tray. Drying the skin helps it roast better in the oven.

Sprinkle salt and black pepper all over the duck. You can also add a little garlic powder, rosemary, or thyme if you like a stronger flavour.

Place the duck in a preheated oven and roast it slowly until the skin becomes golden and crisp. Duck usually takes longer than chicken because it has more fat and thicker skin.

If you like, add potatoes, carrots, or onions to the roasting tray. They will cook in the duck juices and become rich and flavourful.

When the duck is fully cooked, take it out of the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before cutting. Serve warm with the roasted vegetables or a simple salad.
